Jakarta (UNAS) – Sea Turtle Study Group (KSPL) Chelonia is a student study group under the auspices of the Biology Faculty Universitas Nasional (FABIONA). This study group have been monitoring hawksbill in Pulau Kayu Angin Bira Kepulauan Seribu, Jakarta for about five days on November 5 to 9, 2016.
The purpose of this activity is to monitor the condition of the hawksbill which may be encountered and see the habitat for hawksbill turtle in Pulau Kayu Angin Bira. KSPL Chelonia were interested in monitoring in Pulau Kayu Angin Bira because they have found the hawksbill since 2015.
The result of monitoring a habitat of hawksbill was satisfied but they haven’t found a nesting turtle because it still unseasonably. Furthermore the study group still looking for another reason that made the hawksbill wasn’t found in pulau kayu angin bira. There are some factors which made hawksbill didn’t arrive in this island. Such as lacking of food and bad climate that happen in this island.
KSPL Chelonia not only learn about the hawksbills and their habitat, but also the ecosystem. The group took the data on macro algae and gastropods which also serves to protect the ecosystem. Chairman KSPL Chelonia FABIONA, Nadia Putri Rachma hopes if she will get maksimum result about other .
